What types of development is the Brighton & Hove Checklist designed for?
The Checklist is designed primarily for use on residential and mixed use developments, but also applies for other types of developments.
Do developers/planning applicants have to fill in the whole Checklist for a small development?
No. The larger the developments the more question the developer/planning applicant will have to answer. The checklist comes in different versions for different sizes and types of development:
Small
- residential and mixed use developments with 1-2 residential units;
- non-residential developments of less than 235 m2.
Medium
- residential and mixed use developments with 3-9 residential units;
- non-residential developments between 236 m2 and 999 m2.
Large
- residential and mixed-use developments involving 10 residential units or more;
- non-residential over 1,000 m2.
For each of these development sizes there is a version provided for new build/redevelopment and another for conversions.
If the development is for more than 6,000 houses, a bespoke checklist will be produced by the developer/planning applicant and the Local Planning Authority.
The set of questions for smaller developments is contained within the set of questions for larger developments.
