What is the Brighton & Hove checklist?

The Checklist is a new, easy-to-use online tool that has been developed by SEEDA, BRE and Brighton & Hove City Council. Devised specifically to guide the design of new developments (including conversions) by making sense of current policy, the Checklist highlights best practice, complementing the Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM assessments.

The Checklist covers regionally and locally specific sustainability and planning issues, emphasising those of higher priority.

It looks at sustainability issues relevant to the overall development scale, complementing Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM assessments which focus on individual new homes and buildings.

The tool identifies a range of sustainability issues covered in the South East Plan, the Brighton & Hove Local Plan and emerging Core Strategy and other Local Development Framework (LDF) policies helping developers, planning applicants, the Local Planning Authority and other interested parties to assess to what extent a design proposal will deliver on each issue.

This checklist will remain online to allow existing users to reference their existing projects. New accounts and projects can no longer be created.
